My favorite laundry soap. No, I am not crazy. It costs me just pennies per load, it also is perfect for my front load, HE (High Efficiency) washer. I think it cleans better than any commercial laundry soap. Everything can easily be found in the laundry section at your local grocery story.

Homemade Laundry Soap
D1001-2T 1. Fels-Naptha bar soap.
D1002-1 2. 20 Mule Team Borax.
AH1001-1 3. Arm & Hammer Washing Soda (NOT Baking Soda).

2 cups grated Fels-Naptha soap (1 bar = approximately 2 cups)
1 cup Borax
1 cup Washing soda

I grate my soap with a fine cheese grater. You can use a food processor to grate multiple bars if you like.

Mix together and put in a plastic container with a lid. In front load, HE washer, use 1 Tablespoon for regular loads, and 2 Tablespoons for heavily soiled or extra large loads. For other washers, use approximately 1/4 cup per load. Adjust amounts to your preference.

Note: This is a very low sudsing soap.

TIP: • Sometimes I add 1/2 cup Oxy-Clean per batch for a little extra boost. • Those little slivers of soap in the bath. Grate them up and add them to your laundry soap. Approximately 1/4 cup per batch.

Homemade Stain Remover
This works similar to Spray-n-wash or Shout. Simple to make up. I make it by the gallon and pour it into a spray bottle as needed.

Mix equal parts
-White Vinegar
-Peroxide
-Amonia
-Liquid laundry detergent

Make sure you ad the detergent last or it will foam up on you.
NOTE: You can't leave this sit on the clothing. Spray it and wash it right away.

Homemade Fabric Softener
This will not leave a residue on your clothing. I really love this!

2 cups hair conditioner. Choose one that has a smell that you really like. I usually use Suave Ocean Breeze. (Smells just like Downey)
3 cups white vinegar
6 cups water

Mix and use as you would any fabric softener. This won't have a heavy smell like some of the commercial fabric softeners - just a clean light scent. It won't leave a residue on your clothing or towels, but will keep them soft.

Homemade Febreze
EASY.... and super cheap to make!!

5 parts water to 1 part (commercial) fabric softener
or 4 parts water t0 1 part (homemade) fabric softener

Put in a spray bottle and use to "freshen" carpets, upholstery, etc. just as you would Febreze.
